Welcome to Episode 19! A Special Saturday, New Year’s Bonus Episode!

speaking3

I had the opportunity to speak on New Year’s Day at my home church in Fort Worth, TX where I’m the Executive Pastor.  The message was titled “Everything is Awesome” and tried to give perspective, encouragement and a challenge as we begin 2017.  I hope you enjoy this bonus episode.

As we begin a new year…

  1. There are some things we know:
  • We can have a right, loving relationship with God.  See verses below under “The Roman Road”
  • We live in a broken world; there will be problems.      Job 5:7
  • God will help us amid the problems.      Ps 50:15

  1. We can control some things that will shape our future:
  • Friends we make and spend time with.      1 Cor 15:33, Pr 13:20
  • What hangs around in our heart s                Pr 4:23
  • Plans we choose     Pr 16:9

  1. There is a lot we can’t know or control.

  1. We move forward in faith, one step at a time.      2 Cor 5:7, John 14:21

The Roman Road

We’ve all sinned

As it is written:  “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”  Romans 3:10-12 ESV

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  Romans 3:23 ESV

Christ Died for us anyway

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us Romans 5:8 ESV

Sin leads to eternal death

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 6:23 ESV

But, if we choose to follow Christ we will be saved

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10:9-10 ESV

For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  Romans 10:13 ESV

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1 ESV

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.  Romans 8:1 ESV

God’s Love will stay with us

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:38-39 ESV
